Korolyok was born from real humanitarian experience, not from a boardroom.
Between 2016 and 2018, our founders worked in Ukraine at a time when communities, institutions, and humanitarian actors were navigating uncertainty, pressure, and profound human need. It was there, while working alongside Mariia Koroliuk, that the foundations of the organisation were formed—not as a business idea, but as a commitment to smarter, more human development practice.
In 2019, that shared experience became a consultancy.
The name Korolyok carries both meaning and memory. Inspired by the kinglet—the “little king”—it reflects the belief that small organisations, thoughtful strategies, and grounded intelligence can create powerful impact. Paired with the symbolism of the baobab, it speaks to resilience, rootedness, and life even in challenging conditions.
Today, Korolyok supports humanitarian and development actors to design, evaluate, and strengthen programmes with clarity, compassion, and practical intelligence. Our work is guided by structured thinking (including the A Smart Star methodology), but always centred on people, dignity, and real-world context.
Korolyok is not just a consultancy.
It is a way of working:
smart, grounded, human.
